Pelatihan Pemanfaatan Aplikasi Bahasa Gratis dan AI untuk Mendukung Pembelajaran Bahasa Siswa SMP

Abstract

This community service activity aims to improve students' understanding and skills in using free language-learning applications and in using artificial intelligence (AI) as a learning tool. The activity was held at Yulis Palembang Junior High School on April 4-5, 2026, involving grade VIII students as participants. The implementation method includes preparation, implementation, and evaluation stages designed in a participatory, hands-on, practice-based manner. In the implementation phase, students are introduced to various language-learning applications and to the use of AI to support vocabulary and conversation exercises. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the use of technology in language learning, as well as in practical skills for using applications and AI independently. In addition, students show a positive response, characterized by increased enthusiasm and involvement during the activity. These findings indicate that integrating technology, particularly free apps and AI, can be an effective alternative for supporting language learning at the junior high school level. Therefore, similar activities need to be developed on an ongoing basis, with the support of school institutions, to strengthen students' digital literacy and AI skills.
